These special cars would of course be added to the train via train construction, but would be quite expensive but powerful. Or even just a car of just solid armor, adding to the hitpoints of the train. You would have your normal Engine and Cargo cars, but every few cars there could be something like an AA or AT gun. Say we wanted to build an Armored train to transport Metal pretty close to a front line. Luckily, there is hope for a train's survival.Īrmored trains could potentially defend themselves from enemy attack and could be pretty hard nuts to crack depending on how well they are defended.Īrmored train construction would work pretty much exactly like what we already have now. Without trains there is no military power. Different vehicles would of course require different materials and so on. We would select it and it gives us a recipe of This means every time 40 metal and 5000 liters of oil are transported to the factory, one M4 would roll off the line and come under the player's control. Say we wanted to build an M4 Sherman Medium tank. My idea would be you would select a certain vehicle from a list, and the list will tell you what that vehicle requires in order to be built. The Vehicle Factory would work a little bit more complicated though. Each time someone wants to build a Infantry unit, it would require goods to be delivered to the Barracks and would take population away from the town in order to train the unit. Barracks for Infantry and a Vehicle Factory for Vehicles.īuilding these units would actually be relatively simple. Land units would of course be built at their respective buildings. And Air units consisting of things like Fighters, Bombers, Interceptors, etc. Sea units consisting of things like Cruisers, Subs, Aircraft Carriers etc. Land units consisting of things like Infantry, Armored vehicles, Trains, Non-Armored vehicles, etc. There will be the 3 classic types of units. The military and non military units that will be the main focus of the game. Now onto the meat and potatoes of the mod. Allowing more than one person to deliver goods to a town and gain profit. Towns could be potentially shared or traded between Allies. Which means that the town cannot be just out in the middle of nowhere. The town MUST be connected to your territory. This could be done by either sending enough "units" (which I will talk about in a bit) into the town, or by capturing a certain building in the town. Obviously, the only way to get more towns would be to take them. Each town would be turned into sort of "control points." While they will still look and function as towns, only the country/player that controls them would be able to transport things to them. The basic goal of the mod would be to obviously control as much of the map as possible. Which would turn TTD into pretty much an RTS game like Hearts of Iron or Command and Conquer. I had an brainstorm for a Warfare type mod. After sitting around for a while, watching all my trains and trucks do their thing, I had a few ideas for some mods that could potentially completely rework how TTD works.
